The fake INSS refund

Retirees are told — by call, message, or a fake app — that they're owed a refund of "improper deductions," or must "update data" or do a "prova de vida." Then come requests for personal data, a code, a payment, or to install an app. Some of these lies follow real news about benefit deductions, which makes them feel timely and believable.

The INSS does not call to summon you, ask for codes, charge fees, or send you an app by link.

What to do: use only the official Meu INSS app or site, or call 135. Don't install "refund" apps and don't pay any fee.
