Two-pot retirement scams — "we'll help you claim"
Since the two-pot retirement system began, millions of South Africans have withdrawn from their savings pot — and scammers have built an industry around "helping." They impersonate fund administrators ("we can process your two-pot withdrawal faster — verify your details / pay a processing fee"), phish fund-portal logins, or submit fraudulent instructions to change your banking details so the payout lands in a mule account.
Members less familiar with online fund portals are the prime target. The real rules are simple: administrators don't cold-call to help you claim, charge no upfront fee, and never need your password or OTP.
What to do: deal with your retirement fund only through its official portal or the HR/fund contact you already have. Treat any "claim before the tax rules change" rush as the tell it is — and confirm any banking-detail change yourself through the official channel.

We're calling from your fund administrator about your two-pot savings withdrawal. You qualify for the express queue — I just need your member number, your portal password and the OTP we're sending now, plus a small processing fee to fast-track the payout.
