The affectionate messages arrive every day: fluent, warm, patient, always awake, never in a bad mood. What's new is *who's typing* — criminal groups now run the weeks of daily courtship through AI chatbots, in any language, and only bring in a human when it's time to talk about money.
The old tells are gone. Clumsy grammar, slow replies, timezone gaps — an AI has none of them. The same gang can now court thousands of people at once. And on fake "investment platforms," the friendly support chat reassuring you day and night is a bot too.
What to do: judge people by what they *do*, not how they write. Someone real can meet, can video-call spontaneously, and never needs your money. The moment an online-only relationship turns to money, crypto or "an opportunity" — it's a script, no matter how human it sounds.
