Free-trial traps & fake renewals

A "free trial — just pay shipping" can quietly enrol your card in costly recurring charges. And an emailed "invoice" for an antivirus renewal often includes a phone number to cancel that routes you into a remote-access refund scam.

What to do: read auto-renewal terms; use a virtual or one-time card for trials if you can. Real companies don't put a "cancel" phone number in an invoice and never need remote access to refund you.
