"Your child caused a fatal accident — pay the bail"

The phone rings and a sobbing voice that sounds like a relative is suddenly cut off — then a calm "police officer" or "prosecutor" takes over: *"Your daughter caused a serious accident, someone has died, and only an immediate bail payment can keep her out of custody."*

The whole call is staged to flood you with panic so you can't stop and think. They will tell you to stay on the line, tell no one, and hand the money — in cash — to a colleague who comes to your door.

But the real 110 police never demand money, bail, or valuables by phone, and never send someone to collect them.

What to do: hang up. Then call your relative on their own known number, or the police on 110 — dialled by you, after you end the call. Never hand cash or valuables to anyone.
